ABOUT SEDACoE

The Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) College of Education at Asokore, near Koforidua in Eastern Region of Ghana, was established on the 26th October, 1962 by the SDA Church. The College is about 84 kilometres from Accra, the national capital. It cover an area of 135.9 hectors, about (887.5m square)....The College began with one hundred and twenty (120). Since its establishment, it has run reveral programmes.The College began as a post Middle Four- Year Certificate 'A' Teacher Training Institution. The year 1974 saw the short-lived Two- Year Art Specialist Programme for trained teachers. As a result the then education refrorms, the College was turned into Three-Year Post-Secondary Programme, offering Vocational, Commercial, Home Science and Arts subjects in 1975. Further changes in the structure of teacher training programme in the country led to the college offering Diploma in Basic Education in 2004/2005. The Education Act of 2008(Act 778) saw the upgrading of teacher training colleges into tertiary institutions and designated as Colleges of Education. In 2018/2019 academic year, the college progressed to offer Bachelor of Education(B.Ed) programme as per the new teacher training policy of the government tgat changed the affiliation status of the College from University of Cape Coast (UCC) to University of Education, Winneba (UEW).
